Tuscaloosa NCAA Super Regional Dates, Times, Ticket Prices Announced

Missouri Softball Team to Face Alabama in Best-of-Three Series

COLUMBIA, Mo. - Game times and ticket prices for Missouri's first-ever NCAA Softball Super Regional Tournament appearance were announced today. The Iowa City NCAA Regional Champion Tigers will take on No. 3 Alabama in the best-of three series beginning Friday, May 23, at 6:30 p.m. (CT). First pitch of game two is slated for Saturday, May 24, at 2 p.m. (CT) while the third, if necessary, game will follow game two and begin at 4:30 p.m. (CT). All three games will be held at the Alabama Softball Complex in Tuscaloosa, Ala., and will NOT be televised. The winner of each eight Super Regional Tournaments will advance to the 2008 Women's College World Series, May 30-June 5 at ASA Hall of Fame Stadium in Oklahoma City, Okla.

Fans interested in traveling to Tuscaloosa, Ala., have the option of purchasing all-session or individual session tickets. An all-session pass in the bleachers is $20 for adults and $12 for youth, while all-session, chairback tickets are available for $25 for adults and $15 for youth. Individual session prices are $12 for adults and $8 for youth. Youth prices apply to those ages 18 and under.

Missouri, 47-15, earned the program's fourth-ever NCAA Regional Title after besting host-school Iowa, 5-4, in the Championship game of the Iowa City Regional. The Tigers finished the three-day tournament with a perfect 3-0 record, taking down Iowa twice and the nation's No. 14 seed Long Beach State once.


 

 

Alabama, 54-6, is the No. 3 national seed and took two wins over Jacksonville State and one over Chattanooga to advance to its fourth consecutive NCAA Super Regional Tournament.

The Tigers own a 2-1 lead in the all-time series with the Crimson Tide, most recently earning a 6-1 decision, in Tuscaloosa, Ala., during the 2005 campaign.

The Missouri softball team (50-12) saw its season come to an end after dropping a 5-2 loss to ninth-ranked Georgia (45-11) in its second game of the Women's College World Series held at ASA Hall of Fame Stadium in Oklahoma City, Okla. With the loss, Missouri is the first school eliminated from the tournament, finishing eighth in its fourth WCWS appearance.

Making their first appearance in 15 years at the Women's College World Series, the 11th-ranked Tigers (50-11) suffered an opening round, 7-3, loss to ninth-ranked Arizona State (47-17) at ASA Hall of Fame Stadium in Oklahoma City, Okla. The Tigers managed only four hits on the day, both extra base knocks, but faltered in the field, accounting for two errors.
