Columbia, Mo. -The Big 12 Conference office announced the names of the members of the 2007 All-Big 12 team including Tigers Jen Bruck (St. Peters, Mo.), Amanda Renth (Mascoutah, Ill.), Micaela Minner (Sanger, Texas) and Julie Silver (Chesterfield, Mo.). In addition six Tigers, Andee Allen (Windsor, Mo.), Leanne Bowers (Arnold, Mo.), Allison Kennewell (Eden Prairie, Minn.), Kathy Masterson (St. Louis, Mo.), Sarah Stringer (Auxvasse, Mo.) Renth and Alyson Tobyne (Lakewood, Colo.) were name to the Academic All-Big 12 first team.
Continually proving themselves on the field, juniors Bruck and Renth were named first team All-Big 12 members, while redshirt junior Minner and freshman Silver were awarded second team honors. For Bruck, this marks the second straight year in which she's earned first team honors while for Renth, it marks her third All-Big 12 accolade but first on the first team. Renth previously received second team recognition as a freshman (2005) and sophomore (2006). Minner's first team honor is the second of her career and third All-Big 12 nod since her redshirt freshman campaign (2005).
Missouri's seven Academic All-Big 12 first team members all recorded above a 3.20 grade-point average in their respective fields of study. The academic honor is Masterson and Bowers' second on the day as both received word that they had been named to the ESPN The Magazine All-District VII First Team. Masterson was one of only four Big 12 softball players to record a 4.0 grade-point average and has done so every semester of her college career.
The Tigers, who enter the Big 12 Championships as the third seed, will begin their run at a tournament title, Friday, May 11, at 11:30 a.m. (CT) against sixth-seeded and 18th-ranked Texas on the alternate field of ASA Hall of Fame Stadium in Oklahoma City, Okla.
