Softball Returns Home for Doubleheader against the Bison

March 13, 2007

Columbia, Mo. - The Missouri softball team will square off against North Dakota State Wednesday, in a doubleheader that will be the Tigers final tune up before hosting the Tiger Invitational this weekend, March 16-18 at University Field. The first game will be played a 3 p.m. (CT) with the next game starting a 5 p.m. (CT).

The Tigers are coming off an appearance at the Big 12/Pac 10 Showdown in Tempe, Ariz. Last weekend, where they played third ranked Arizona State twice and 10th ranked Washington three times. The Tigers finished with a 1-4 record for the tournament, topping Washington 10-8 in a 10-inning game. Catcher Kathy Masterson (St. Louis, Mo.) had the hot bat in the win against Washington, tallying six of the Tigers 10 RBI.

Led by junior slugger Amanda Renth (Mascoutah , Ill.) the Tigers will look to rebound against the Bison. This season Renth is hitting .368 with seven homers and 28 RBI. Renth improved those numbers over the weekend when she hit .429 and added three RBI.

Already with a perfect 6-0 record this season, the Tigers will look to improve upon that mark Wednesday, and this weekend when they play host to Columbia College, Western Illinois and Northwestern in the Tiger Invitational.
