Missouri Softball Falls to Pacific

In the consolation game of the Stanford Invitational the Tigers lost to the Pacific Tigers, 3-0. The winning play came in the third inning on a hit by sophomore infielder Crystal Presson driving in junior outfielder Jennifer Harrelll for the game winning run.

Sophomore pitcher Samantha Fleeman entered the batting lineup this game coming in as the designated player, with junior Erin Kalka pitching.

Pacific started the scoring in the bottom of the second inning. Sophomore infielder Crystal Presson scored on a single up the middle from freshman outfielder Lizzie Hagan for the first run of the game. Hagan was also driven home on a single by junior Michelle Annunciation to make the score 2-0.

Missouri was able to get on base when sophomore first baseman Joanne Loethan advanced after being hit by a pitch, she then advanced to second base and stole third before the inning ended when freshman outfielder Leanne Bowers grounded out to the third baseman.

Missouri made some personnel changes in the bottom of the fourth bringing in freshman pitcher Erica Petersen and freshmen catcher A.J. White.

In the bottom of the sixth inning Missouri brought in sophomore pitcher Samantha Fleeman, to relieve freshman Erica Petersen.

Missouri had it's first hit in the top of the fourth inning when freshman second baseman Sarah Stringer had a single up the left field line. The Tigers had three hits in the game.

The Missouri Tigers entered the game with a record of 2-7 and drop to 2-8 with the loss. The Tigers will be back in action next weekend in Lafayette, Louisiana at the Ragin Cajun Tournament, hosted by the University of Louisiana- Lafayette.
