Tiger Softball Team Ranks 21st in ESPN.com/USA Softball Poll

ESPN.com/USA Softball released its annual preseason collegiate softball poll today ranking Missouri No. 21 in the nation. Defending Women's College World Series champion Arizona stands at No. 1 in the nation with 14 first place votes, while Arizona State ranks second after receiving three first place votes and Texas A&M is ranked third with two first place votes.

Five Big 12 softball programs including Texas A&M, No. 5 Oklahoma, No. 9 Baylor and No. 24 Texas are currently ranked among the top-25 teams in the country, while Nebraska received votes, but was not ranked.

The Tigers open their 2008 campaign Friday, Feb. 8, in Miami, Fla. Taking on 15th-ranked Virginia Tech in the Florida International University (FIU) Invitational, first pitch is slated for 2 p.m. (CT). Missouri will play two games on opening day, taking on host school FIU at 7 p.m. (CT).
