COLUMBIA, Mo. - The Missouri softball team cruised to two easy victories on Saturday, improving their fall record to 4-0.  The Tigers knocked off Meramec Community College by a 17-0 final in game one before beating Jefferson County by a 4-0 score in the second game.

Lisa Simmons picked up her second victory of the fall after throwing five shutout innings against Meramec.  Simmons gave up four hits and struck out two.  Ashley Fleming finished the game off with a pair of scoreless innings.

Marla Schweisberger and Kathryn Poet led all Tigers with four hits apiece, while both of them scored three times and drove in a run.  Alaina Burkhart and Rachel Hay led the team in runs batted in with three each.  Shana White scored twice and brought home two, while Nicole Hudson hit her second home run of the fall campaign, a two-run blast in the first inning.

The Tigers jumped out to a 9-0 lead after four innings of play, scoring in each of the first four frames.  After a scoreless fifth, Mizzou put up an eight-spot in the sixth to increase their lead to 17-0.  

In game two, Kristin Nottelmann shut down Jefferson County in her five innings of work, giving up just three hits and a walk while striking out four.

Mizzou put two on the board in the first on a two-run double by Simmons.  Shana White singled in a run in the third to push the lead to 3-0.  Missouri's fourth run came across on an RBI double by Fleming in the fourth.

Schweisberger and Taylor picked up two hits apiece, while Schweisberger plated a pair of runs.  Hudson and Fleming each threw a scoreless inning in relief of Nottelmann.

The Tigers will be back in action next Saturday with a doubleheader beginning at Noon CT.
