COLUMBIA, Mo. - Senior pitcher Chelsea Thomas (Pleasantville, Iowa) pitched the 11th no-hitter of her Tiger career in game one of No. 11 Mizzou's doubleheader vs. No. 2 Tennessee at University Field on Saturday. The two-time All-American Thomas silenced the top batting team in the Southeastern Conference, which entered the game hitting a league-best .344 in overall games.

Including combined no-hitters, the effort against the big swinging Lady Vols was Thomas' 14th career no-hit pitching performance. Her strong outing was her first complete game no-hitter since blanking Oklahoma State last season (May 11, 2012) with 12 strikeouts in a 4-0 win.

Thomas' seven-strikeout performance over 7.0 innings in the initial game vs. UT gave her an SEC-leading 13th conference pitching win. After the evening doubleheader split with Tennessee, Mizzou (32-10, 14-8 SEC) hosts the Lady Vols (43-8, 16-5 SEC) on the program's Senior Day at Noon. A ceremony will follow the contest.

The Tigers jumped on Tennessee early, scoring one run in the bottom of the second inning on an RBI single from freshman OF Sarah Moore to left field. The hit brought in junior UTL Brianna Corwin (Kansas City, Mo.), who had pinch run for redshirt freshman OF Carlie Rose (Nixa, Mo.). Rose started the second inning with a single up the middle.

Mizzou added its second and final run of the game with two outs on the board in the bottom of the fifth. Senior catcher Jenna Marston (St. Louis, Mo.) started with an infield single before senior Nicole Hudson (Webb City, Mo.) singled to right field to move Marston to third base. Sophomore 3B Angela Randazzo (Poway, Calif.) notched the RBI with a looping single past UT's second baseman into right field for a 2-0 lead and the final score of the initial contest.

Thomas recorded her seventh strikeout of the game during the Lady Vols' final plate appearance in the top of the seventh inning. A groundout to senior IF Princess Krebs (Lithonia, Ga.) at third base finalized the no-hitter for Thomas, who improved to 20-9. The game for Tennessee was the program's first no-hit contest since 2002.

Hudson got the start in game two of the doubleheader, which began play at 9:05 p.m. Sophomore SS Corrin Genovese (East Amherst, N.Y.) and Marston recorded two-hit games for the Tigers, with Genovese batting 2-for-2 and recording a stolen base.

The Lady Vols recorded 12 hits in the second game en route to a five-inning, 10-1 result. Hudson (9-5) pitched the initial 4.0 innings of the game before making way for senior Lindsey Muller (Stilwell, Kan.), who pitched the last 1.0 inning.
