Columbia, Mo. - The 14th-ranked Missouri softball team was held to one run on six hits in its first of two home games against the Nebraska Cornhuskers. Missouri, now 41-9 on the year and 11-6 in the Big 12, struggled offensively, with senior pitcher Stacy Delaney (Freeland, Mich.) stuck with the loss, her third of the campaign. Nebraska improves to 34-15 and 9-8.

The Tigers scored their lone run of the game in the bottom of the fifth frame. Senior second baseman Andee Allen (Barnhart, Mo.) knocked a one out single up the middle to reach base and advanced to second on leadoff batter Rhea Taylor's (Buford, Ga.) groundout to Nebraska pitcher Molly Hill. Allen stole third and scored on a throwing error by Husker catcher Amanda Duran.

Delaney threw six complete innings and allowed six runs on seven hits, striking out only four of the 30 batters she faced. Junior lefty Jana Hainey (Peculiar, Mo.) closed out the game by hurling the seventh and final inning. Missouri's pitching staff gave up four runs on two home runs, while Nebraska struck out six batters and allowed only a scattering of singles.

The final home game of the 2009 regular season campaign will begin Sunday, May 3 at Noon (CT). Following the game, the Tigers will prepare for a trip to Oklahoma City, Okla., for the Big 12 Championships.
