LEXINGTON, Ky. - No. 11 Mizzou softball sealed its series win at No. 19 Kentucky with a 7-0 shutout victory on Sunday at John Cropp Stadium. The Tigers were led by two-hit days from sophomore SS Corrin Genovese (East Amherst, N.Y.), sophomore 3B Angela Randazzo (Poway, Calif.) and senior catcher Jenna Marston (St. Louis, Mo.). Two-time All-American pitcher Chelsea Thomas (Pleasantville, Iowa) pitched 6.0 shutout innings in the victory, scattering three hits and two walks.

Mizzou improved to 29-9 overall and 13-7 in the Southeastern Conference with the win, while the Wildcats dropped to 36-16 (11-10 SEC) with the loss. Missouri took a nine-inning, 2-1 win over Kentucky to open the series on Friday, April 26.

The Tiger bats got going in a big way in the top of the second inning, with six runs scoring for Mizzou. The inning started with Randazzo and sophomore 1B Kelsea Roth (Yorba Linda, Calif.) earning walks. With one out, a Genovese single up the middle scored Randazzo and Roth came in on a UK error for a 2-0 lead after Genovese stole second base.

Redshirt freshman OF Carlie Rose (Nixa, Mo.) and freshman 2B Emily Crane (Troy, Mo.) kept the second inning going with two-out walks to load the bases. Marston capitalized with a double off the left field wall to score Genovese, Rose and Crane for a 5-0 advantage. After a walk by senior Nicole Hudson (Webb City, Mo.), Randazzo made it 6-0 by singling through the left side to score Marston from second base.

Mizzou added a seventh run in the top of the sixth with two two-out hits. Randazzo singled to center field and was pinch run for with senior IF Princess Krebs (Lithonia, Ga.). Junior OF Mackenzie Sykes (Blue Springs, Mo.) smacked a double to center field to bring home Krebs to set the final score of 7-0.

Thomas improved to 19-4 in the circle with her performance, her 12th SEC pitching victory. Senior Lindsey Muller (Stillwell, Kan.) finished out the game, facing three batters and getting three outs in the seventh inning.

Marston led Mizzou with three RBI in the game, a season-best. Hudson, Roth and Rose each earned two walks in the win.

UK's Lauren Cumbess lasted 1.2 innings in the loss (10-6), allowing three hits, six earned runs and five walks. Wildcat pitcher Kelsey Nunley entered in relief and threw the final 5.1 innings.

The Tigers stay on the road with a mid-week, non-conference doubleheader at Western Illinois (13-21) on Wednesday, May 1, in Macomb, Ill. The games are scheduled for 3 p.m. and 5 p.m. at Mary Ellen McKee Stadium.

Mizzou then returns home to University Field for its final home regular season action, a three-game series against SEC foe Tennessee from Friday, May 3-Sunday, May 5. The Friday game starts at 6 p.m., while the Saturday, May 4, contest will be televised nationally by ESPN at 6:30 p.m. The series concludes with a noon first pitch on Sunday for Senior Day.
