The 13th-ranked Missouri softball team used a six run inning in the top of the sixth to pull ahead of Houston (13-15) and win their 27th game of the campaign. With wind gusts blowing out at up to 30 miles per hour, three Tigers crushed home runs accounting for five of Missouri's nine runs. As a team, the Tigers combined for nine hits, with six marked as extra base knocks. With the win, Missouri improves to 7-1 in road games and 27-4 on the year.

Senior Lindsey Ubrun (Riverside, Calif.) broke the scoreless tie in the top of the second inning with a leadoff, first pitch home run over the fence in centerfield. The solo shot was Ubrun's fourth of the season and marks the second straight game in which the Tiger third baseman went yard.

Houston knotted the game at one in the bottom of the fourth with a solo homer also sent flying over the right center fence. Junior pitcher Stacy Delaney (Freeland, Mich.) held the Cougars to only one run and improved to 5-2 on the year.

Missouri's bats warmed in the sixth as the Tigers managed six runs on six hits. Leading off the inning, shortstop Gina Schneider (Liberty, Mo.) reached base on balls and was sent home on senior Micaela Minner's (Sanger, Texas) home run over the centerfield fence. Minner, who leads the team with six home runs on the year, has hit 38 yard balls in her career as a Tiger.

Designated player Marla Schweisberger (Raytown, Mo.) hit Missouri's third and final home run of the game. Minner led off the inning by reaching base on balls and scored on Schweisberger's home run to right center.

Missouri and Houston will play game two of the midweek series on Wednesday, March 25, beginning at 3 p.m. (CT) at the Cougar Softball Stadium. Following the game, the Tigers will travel to Waco, Texas and resume Big 12 play in a weekend series against Baylor.
