Columbia, Mo. -The No. 21 Missouri softball team finished its first tournament of the season, the Florida International University (FIU) Invitational, with a 3-2 record after besting No. 15 Virginia Tech, 2-1, at University Park in Miami, Fla. Sophomore lefty Jana Hainey (Raymore, Mo.) was credited with the win, her second of the campaign and moves to 2-1 on the year.

Missouri junior Andee Allen (Barnhart, Mo.) scored both of Missouri's runs and finished the game 2-for-2 at the plate.

Virginia Tech took the early lead, scoring an unearned run in the top of the second inning. Missouri made two errors in the frame allowing Charisse Mariconda to score from second.

Allen led off the third inning with a single to right center and, capitalizing on two Virginia Tech errors, scored on a bases loaded walk by two-time All-American Angela Tincher. Junior Lindsey Ubrun (Riverside, Calif.), was credited with the RBI, her sixth in five games.
