2011: Fleming was the team's top hitter, leading the team with a .356 batting average, 14 home runs, 62 runs batted in, an on-base percentage of .452 and a .701 slugging percentage. Fleming was also perfect on the base paths, swiping 16 bases in as many attempts during the season. She finished eighth in the Big 12 in batting average, tied for fifth in runs scored, sixth in home runs, second in doubles - one shy of the league leader, tied for second in RBI, eighth in stolen bases, first in total bases and ninth in slugging percentage. Fleming opened the season by going 2-for-3 against San Diego State with her first home run of the year, two runs and two RBI. She homered in back-to-back games in early March, hitting one in a 2-for-3 day against UMKC, while connecting on another three days later against Arkansas, where she also drove in five RBI - one of two games on the year where she had five runs batted in. Her second five RBI game came 10 days later against Western Michigan, where she finished 2-for-2 at the plate with a double and a home run. That game kicked off a stretch of seven games where Fleming homered five times, driving home 14 runs during the timeframe with eight runs scored. To close out the regular season, Fleming homered in both games of the doubleheader against Iowa State, where the Tigers clinched their first regular season Big 12 title since 1997, driving in three runs in each contest. A week later, she homered for the third straight game, delivering her 13th of the year in a 2-for-3 day against Illinois State to open up the NCAA Regionals. She helped Mizzou clinch the regional title with a home run in their 8-0 win over DePaul the next day. At the Women's College World Series, Fleming went 2-for-3 against Florida and 1-for-2 against Oklahoma, scoring a run in each contest. Fleming also provided the Tigers some depth in the circle, as she appeared in five contests as a pitcher, throwing nine innings. She recorded two saves and had an impressive ERA of 0.78 while striking out four batters. 2010: Her .363 batting average was third highest on the team, while she also finished tied for second on the squad with nine home runs. Hit a walk-off two-run homer against Wichita State in game one of the doubleheader, and followed that up with another home run in the first inning of game two. Earned National Player of the Week Honors for the week of April 26 after going 10-for-13 with three doubles, two home runs, eight RBI, seven runs scored, and four walks while also swiping three bags in as many attempts, becoming the first Tiger to earn that award since 2005. Picked up a pair of hits, including a home run, and three RBI against Oklahoma State in the opening game of the Big 12 Championship. Helped eliminate Oregon and get the Tigers back to the World Series by going 3-for-3 with two doubles and two RBI in game two of the NCAA Super Regionals. 2009: As a freshman, Ashley Fleming made 30 starts for the Tigers, 28 at first base. Notching a squad best 237 putouts and 11 assists, Fleming managed a mere five errors on the campaign, good enough for a .980 fielding percentage. Fleming made 16 starts as Missouri's cleanup hitter and advanced 27 batters in 66 opportunities, good enough for a .409 success rate. Batting leadoff, Fleming was .421 on the year. Playing in Missouri's April 8 game at home against No. 24 Southern Illinois, Fleming helped run rule the Salukis, blasting a two-run double in the bottom of the fifth, giving Missouri a 9-1 win. Fleming finished the game 2-for-3 at the plate with a second inning leadoff double up the middle.
Silex: A pitcher for the Silex Owls, Fleming earned 12 varsity letters throughout her high school career in softball, basketball and academically. Fleming was a four-time all-district, all-regional and all-state player, as well as earning team Most Valuable Player and Best Offensive player awards. She earned three all-conference awards, and holds the Missouri single-season home run record for her junior season (2007). With Fleming as pitcher, the Owls, led by Head Coach Robert James, placed second in the state for three seasons (2005, 2006, 2008), as well as earning a state title in 2007. As a basketball player, Fleming was a four-time all-district player, team Most Valuable Player, and Best Offensive Player, as well as earning Lincoln County Player of the Year in all four seasons, with 2,500 total career points. Fleming was her class valedictorian and was a four-year Principals Honor Roll member.
Personal: Ashley Fleming is the daughter of Mark and Susan Fleming and was born May 25, 1990, in Chesterfield, Mo. The eldest of five children, Fleming has three brothers, Andy (18), Nicholas (17) and Austin (15), as well as a sister, Natalie (15). Fleming is majoring in journalism and chose Mizzou for softball and academic opportunities, as well as to remain close to home.
