COLUMBIA, Mo. - The University of Missouri soccer team was picked to finish third in the 2011 Big 12 Preseason Poll, as voted on by the league's head coaches. Missouri topped a group of four teams separated by only 11 points in the poll including the Tigers, Texas, Texas Tech and Oklahoma.

The Tigers were picked behind the Oklahoma State Cowgirls and the Aggies of Texas A&M. The last three spots in the poll were filled out by Baylor, Kansas and Iowa State, respectively.

Mizzou bring back 11 players from a squad that finished last season with a 7-10-2 mark and a 5-5 record in the Big 12 to finish sixth in the league. The team also welcomes 14 newcomers this season who will suit up for Missouri for the first time. Missouri travels to San Diego, Calif., to kick off the regular season on Friday, Aug. 19 against the Toreros of the San Diego, and then open the home slate on Sunday, Aug. 21 against Eastern Illinois at 6:30 pm.
