COLUMBIA, Mo. - Mizzou soccer seniors Alyssa Diggs and Dominique Richardson were both named among Top Drawer Soccer's Women's National Top 100 Upperclassmen recently. Diggs clocked in at No. 62 and Richardson was No. 82.
Diggs and Richardson enter their senior seasons on the heels of All-Southeastern Conference first team honors in 2012. Additionally, Richardson earned a spot on the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) All-South Region second team, while Diggs was named to the third team.
As a junior in 2012, Coppell, Texas, native Diggs paced the Tigers with 17 points on eight goals and an assist despite missing five games due to injury. She earned weekly honors from the SEC, CollegeSoccer360 and College Sports Madness during the year and was named to the Capital One Academic All-District 6 first team following the season. Also an All-Big 12 Conference first team selection in 2011, Diggs stands as only the third Tiger to earn two all-conference honors in her career. She enters her senior season with 36 points on 14 goals and eight assists.
Richardson, who hails from Fullerton, Calif., notched four goals and an assist in 2012 as a junior. Three of her four goals were game-winners, including tallies in the final minutes against South Carolina and Alabama. Richardson was an All-Big 12 second team selection in 2011 and a member of the Big 12 All-Newcomer Team in 2010. Over her career, Richardson has started all of Mizzou's 62 games and has 30 points on 13 goals and four assists.
Diggs, Richardson and the rest of the 2013 Tigers hit the pitch on Saturday, Aug. 17 with a home exhibition contest against SMU at 6:30 p.m. Missouri then officially opens the season at home on Friday, Aug. 23 at 6:30 p.m. against Pacific.
