COLUMBIA, Mo. - In addition to the Big 12 Championship trophy earned last season, the University of Missouri women's soccer team will be adding a much larger piece of hardware to their program in 2009. A new video board will be installed at Walton Stadium in time for the No. 10 Tigers' home opener against Northwestern on Friday, August 28th.
"We are very excited to have this cutting-edge, video scoreboard," Head Coach Bryan Blitz said. "It will allow us to implement some fan-oriented features such as live video, replays of highlights and various other entertaining elements that will allow for a more interactive fan experience."
The PSF-23 full color video display, one of four new state-of-the-art displays to be added to Missouri athletic facilities by Daktronics, Inc., measures approximately 21 feet wide by 12 feet tall. Artist's renderings of the video board projects at Walton Stadium, Taylor Stadium, and Memorial Stadium are available for viewing GALLERY
The display will be installed in the existing scoreboard structure located on the south end of the field, replacing the previous display board that was limited in both color and graphic capabilities.
The renovation to Walton Stadium adds to the strong support and success the Tigers had at home last season where they recorded a program best 10 wins, played a nationally-televised match on ESPNU, and hosted the opening rounds of the NCAA Tournament for the fourth time in school history.
