Richardson Wins Athlete of the Year

June 7, 2010

COLUMBIA, Mo. - 2010 signee Dominique Richardson topped off her prep career with the Orange County Female Athlete of the Year award. The U-18 U.S. National Team player won the award along with the Freeway League Female Player of the Year at the Orange County Athletic Director's Association award dinner. The dual-sport athlete is a three-time First All-Freeway League first team player in soccer and basketball and was a member of the OCO/Efusion All-Star Basketball team.

Richardson is fresh off graduating from Fullerton Union High School in Fullerton, Calif. She is a two-year member of the Legends FC soccer club, coached by Josh Hodges.

Orange County, Calif., with a population of more than three million people, is the second most populous county in California behind Los Angeles County.

"Winning an award that big in a place with three million people is amazing," Missouri Head Coach Bryan Blitz said. "We are very excited to have a player of that caliber joining the Mizzou soccer family. She will contribute both on and off the field over the next four years."

Richardson is one of six incoming freshmen joining the Missouri squad later this summer. She currently plays a defensive midfield for both Legends FC and Fullerton Union but played defensive back during the U-18 U.S. team camp in April.
