COLUMBIA, Mo - The University of Missouri and women's soccer coach Bryan Blitz have agreed to terms on a new five-year contract that will continue Blitz's tenure through the 2013 season. Blitz led the Tigers to their first Big 12 Championship in 2008, as well as a top 10 national ranking and their second consecutive NCAA Tournament appearance.

"I'd like to thank the university and the athletic department for the faith they have shown with this commitment," Blitz said. "We look forward to continuing our quest for our first national championship."

Blitz holds the distinction as the only head coach in Mizzou Soccer history, starting the program in 1996 and compiling a 141-119-12 record. Under his leadership, the Tigers have been invited to the NCAA Tournament four times, serving as hosts for the opening rounds on all four occasions, and reaching the second round in each of their last three appearances.

Blitz has guided Missouri as high as No. 5 in the national rankings, an accomplishment achieved in the 2007 season when he was honored as Big 12 Coach of the Year.
