Tigers Prepare for Illinois on Saturday

April 8, 2010

(Columbia, Mo) - The University of Missouri women's soccer team continues their spring season on Saturday with a match against Illinois at 2pm at the Parkway College Showcase in Fenton, Mo.

The meeting marks the first for the two teams since the second round of the 2008 NCAA Tournament, when Illinois advanced on penalty kicks following a double overtime 1-1 draw to end the Tigers' season.

The Fighting Illini will be the second Big Ten opponent to play Missouri on neutral ground this spring, after a scoreless draw against Minnesota in Overland Park, Kansas in March.

The match will be played on field 5 at the Anheuser-Busch Soccer Park as part of the ninth annual Parkway College Showcase, which has attracted 33 high school girls soccer teams from across the Midwest. The Missouri-Illinois game is part of a college doubleheader, with Quincy University and the University of Evansville playing prior at 12 p.m.

Missouri is unbeaten against college competition this spring, topping Missouri State 4-1 at home on February 27th to open the spring campaign.
