Tigers Name Two Assistant Coaches

COLUMBIA, Mo. - The University of Missouri women's soccer team announced two additions to their staff on Friday as Todd Shulenberger and Shaunna Daugherty were each named assistant coaches for the No. 10 Tigers.

"We are so excited to welcome Todd and Shauna into our Mizzou Soccer Family," Head Coach Bryan Blitz said. "They're unbelievably talented and their dedication to excellence will continue to help us reach our goal in winning our first national championship."

Shulenberger comes to Missouri from Clemson University, where he served as their first assistant coach since 2007. He was also an assistant at Georgia State University for the 2003 and 2004 seasons and spent 10 years as Director of Coaching for the TopHat Soccer Club in Atlanta. Shulenberger graduated from Robert Morris University as a four-year starter and he holds a United States Soccer Federation (USSF) National License for coaching.

"I would like to first thank head coach Bryan Blitz and the athletic department for this great opportunity," Shulenberger said. "I am very excited to be working with a team and staff that a has a tremendous passion and competitiveness to be successful. The overall support group and commitment to women's soccer at Mizzou is first class. I'm very excited to move my family to Columbia."

Daugherty makes the move to Missouri from Illinois State University, where she was an assistant coach from 2006-08. Daugherty also coached at Elmhurst College, as well as at the high school, club and Olympic Development Program levels. She specializes in goalkeeper training, having been a four-year starter at Indiana University, and has completed the NSCAA (National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Advanced National Course in coaching.

"I am very excited to join the staff and program here at Mizzou," Daugherty said. "Everything about this program is top-notch from the facilities to the people in the athletic department to the girls on the team and in Coach Blitz. I would like to thank Bryan for this great opportunity and I am looking forward to contributing to the strong winning tradition that is Mizzou Soccer."

 

 

The Tigers continue their spring season as they host Purdue at 9 a.m. on Sunday, April 5 at Walton Stadium. Admission is free of charge and fans are encouraged to park at the main entrance by University Field.
