COLUMBIA, Mo. - The University of Missouri soccer team added two games to its 2007 spring schedule, including a contest against perennial power Notre Dame in the Panda Cup USA 2007. The Tigers will also host River Cities FC of the Women's Premier Soccer League.
The Panda Cup USA 2007, which features top women's national, professional, collegiate and club teams from across the world, aims to educate, form relationships, build culture awareness and create a passion for the sport. Mizzou will face off against Notre Dame on Saturday, April 21 in the event's marquee game at 7 p.m. at Pirate Stadium. Notre Dame posted a 25-1-1 mark in 2006, with its only loss coming against North Carolina in the national championship game.
On Sunday, April 15 the Tigers welcome River Cities FC of the WPSL to Walton Stadium for a 1 p.m. game. Recently ranked the 19th best women's club team in the world by womensworldfootball.com, River Cities claimed the 2006 Midwest Conference title and advanced to the league final. Current Tigers Janelle Cordia, Tasha Dittamore, Ashley Hamblin, Meghan Pfeiffer, Mo Redmond and Kat Tarr, along with former Mizzou player Jennifer Nobis competed for the squad in 2006. Nobis will suit up against her alma mater and play for River Cities in the contest on April 15.
Missouri continues its spring season on Saturday, April 7 against Indiana at 1 p.m. at the Soccer Park St. Louis, Mo.
