COLUMBIA, Mo - Aria Hudetz scored a pair of goals as the Missouri soccer team posted a 2-0 win over Southeast Missouri State on Saturday, March 10 at Walton Stadium. The game was the first outdoor action of the spring season for the Tigers.
Play see-sawed back and forth from the opening whistle with neither team gaining control of action. A shot by Kristin Andrighetto in the 22nd minute invigorated the Tiger attack with opportunities from Breanna Thornton, Redmond and Michelle Collins in the ensuing minutes.
Hudetz finally got Mizzou on the board in the 39th minute on a second-chance opportunity. The SEMO defense blocked an initial shot by Hudetz but she regained control of the ball a sea of jerseys and calmly tapped the ball past the Redhawk goalie for a 1-0 Missouri advantage.
After a missed chance by SEMO to open the second half, Hudetz again found the back of the net to up the Tigers' lead to 2-0 in the 51st minute of play. Hudetz grabbed a loose ball in the box after a mis-clear from SEMO's keeper and knocked in a shot for her second goal of the game.
The Tigers narrowly missed addition goals in the 76th and 77th minutes. After Mo Redmond corralled a ball at the top of the box, she unleashed a 17-yard blast but the shot sailed just over the crossbar for a Mizzou corner. One minute later, a chance off the foot of Michelle Collins flew wide of the left post.
Goalkeepers Mallory Forst and Tasha Dittamore split time in net for Missouri, with Dittamore recording a save.
Mizzou continues its spring schedule on Saturday, April 7 at 2 p.m. against Indiana in St. Louis, Mo.
