COLUMBIA, Mo. - The Mizzou soccer team will play five games, including two home matches, during its 2014 spring season, Head Coach Bryan Blitz announced on Tuesday. The schedule features home games against Northern Iowa (March 8), the National Women's Soccer League's FC Kansas City (March 18), neutral site matches against Iowa State (April 5) and Nebraska (Kansas City, Mo.) and a road match at FC Kansas City (April 15). All home games will be played at Walton Stadium.
The Tigers officially open spring play on Saturday, March 8 as the squad hosts Northern Iowa at a time still to be determined. The Panthers went 4-15 in 2013.
On Tuesday, March 18, Missouri returns to Walton Stadium as the Tigers host FC Kansas City at 6:30 p.m. During the inaugural 2013 season of the NWSL, FC Kansas City posted an 11-6-5 record and advanced to the semifinals of the playoffs before losing in overtime, 3-2, to the Portland Thorns.
Mizzou then travels to St. Louis, Mo., on Saturday, April 5 to face Iowa State at the Lou Fusz Soccer Complex at Noon. Last season, the Cyclones went 9-9-2 in the Big 12 Conference and posted league wins over Oklahoma, Baylor and Oklahoma State.
On Saturday, April 12, the Tigers take on Nebraska at Noon at St. Teresa's Academy in Kansas City, Mo. The Huskers are coming off a Big Ten Conference regular season and tournament titles and advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament. The squad ended 2013 with a 19-4-1 record.
Missouri concludes spring action on Tuesday, April 15 against FC Kansas at Stanley H. Durwood Stadium & Recreational Field in Kansas City, Mo. Game time will be announced at a later date
