COLUMBIA, Mo. - The University of Missouri soccer team earned a 1-0 victory over the No. 17 Texas A&M Aggies in the Big 12 Conference home opener Friday night at Walton Stadium. Mizzou improved to 9-4 overall and 1-2 in league action, while the Aggies fell to 9-4 and 2-1.

In front of a season high 1,224 fans, the fifth highest crowd in program history, freshman Kaysie Clark scored the first goal of her Missouri career and the Tigers first goal in the Big 12 this season. The goal came in the 64th minute on a Tiger counter as sophomore Danielle Nottingham played a cross into the box. Junior Taiwo Adeshigbin stepped over the ball and Clark collected it and put it home on the back post.

The Missouri defense was on top of their game throughout the contest, as senior Mallory Stipetich and juniors Allison Hu and Jessica Greer led Missouri to shutout the nation's top offense.

Redshirt freshman goalkeeper McKenzie Sauerwein notched 11 saves during the game, including a great diving save toward the end of the match to preserve the win. The shutout was Mizzou's seventh of the season.

Head Coach Bryan Blitz was forced to miss the game after receiving a red card in Missouri's last contest.

"Our coaching staff did a wonderful job," Blitz said. "Thank goodness my strength is hiring great people."

The Tigers return to the pitch on Sunday, Oct. to take on Texas 1 p.m. To follow all the action go to Facebook (www.facebook.com/mizzousoccer) or Twitter (www.twitter.com/mizzousoccer).
