COLUMBIA, Mo. - The No. 24 Missouri soccer team won a 3-0 contest over the UMKC `Roos Sunday afternoon as the team bounced back from a loss to No. 8 Florida Friday night. The win improved Mizzou's record to 8-2 on the season, while UMKC fell to 1-5-3.

The shutout was the sixth of the season for the Missouri defense of juniors Allison Hu and Jessica Greer, senior Mallory Stipetich and redshirt freshman goalkeeper McKenzie Sauerwein. The Tigers have now allowed just four goals in the last eight games.

"UMKC was a tough opponent," said Head Coach Bryan Blitz. "They gave us a great test. Their coach has them going in the right direction and I would watch out for them in the future."

After a scoreless first half, Missouri kept shooting and finally found the back of the net when senior Kelsey Blincow knocked in a shot from a pass from sophomore Alyssa Diggs in 52nd minute.

With five minutes left in the contest, Missouri's offensive came alive with two goals in just over a minute. Diggs tallied a goal of her own when she scored off a rebound from freshman Abi Raymer. Sophomore Dominique Richardson then converted a penalty kick after a `Roos defender committed a handball in the box.

Mizzou outshot UMKC 32-6 in the game.

The Tigers open Big 12 Conference play on the road next weekend as they take on the Texas Tech Red Raiders at 7 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 23 and then face the No. 2 Oklahoma State Cowgirls at 1 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 25
