COLUMBIA, Mo. - The No. 24 Missouri soccer team lost a hard fought 2-0 against No. 8 Florida Friday night at Walton Stadium. The loss halts Mizzou's seven-game winning streak and drops the Tigers to 7-2 on the season. Florida improves to 6-2.

Missouri had great chance early as the Tigers came out fast with the support of the largest crowd of the season of 969. In the eighth minute, sophomores Danielle Nottingham and Alyssa Diggs both had great opportunities to put Mizzou ahead but could not convert.

Florida got on the board in the 43rd minute when Annie Speese placed a shot past MU goalie McKenzie Sauerwein and into the net. The goal was the first Mizzou had given up in 418 minutes and ended a streak of four shutouts for the Tiger defense.

The Gators added an insurance goal in the 86th minute as Speese notched her second tally of the match.

The contest marks the first time all season Missouri has not scored a goal.

Mizzou returns to action on Sunday, Sept. 18 as they take on UMKC at 1 p.m. at Walton Stadium.
