COLUMBIA, Mo. - The University of Missouri soccer team picked up its third consecutive win and received goals from seniors Lindsay McCoy and Mo Redmond in a 2-1 victory over Butler on Sunday night at Walton Stadium. The Tigers improve to 4-2-0 with the win while Butler falls to 3-4-0 on the year.

With the score knotted at 1-1 in the 84th minute of play, junior Kristin Andrighetto collected a ball from sophomore Krista Kruse, dribbled along the endline and sent a cross in front of the net. Stationed 12-yards out, Redmond one-timed Andrighetto's pass past the Bulldog keeper to give the Tigers a 2-1 lead with less than seven minutes remaining. The game-winner was the first of the season for Redmond.

Missouri opened scoring just 47 seconds before the half, senior Ashley Hamblin headed a ball on net that Butler goalie Laura Baker managed to knock away. On the ensuing corner kick, Andrighetto sailed a pass to the far post that senior Lindsay McCoy headed back at the goal and into the net for a 1-0 Mizzou advantage. The tally was the first career goal for McCoy and the first for the Tigers in the first half this season.

Butler countered 17 seconds later when Butler's Mandi Kotynski squeaked a shot past Missouri keeper Tasha Dittamore to tie the game a 1-1. Carrie Twyman was credited with the assist.

The Tigers nearly took the lead in the 72nd minute when Andrighetto threaded a pass onto a running Alysha Bonnick, whose shot flew just wide of the goal. Ten minutes later, senior Janelle Cordia played a ball from the Missouri defensive end up toward the box. Andrighetto ran onto the ball but Baker came off her line and grabbed Andrighetto's touch before the Tiger could get a shot off.

Mizzou held a 25-5 in the game, including a 14-2 advantage in shots on goal.

The Tigers next hit the pitch on Friday, Sept. 19 in a 6:30 p.m. game against Iowa at Walton Stadium. -30-
