TEMPE, Ariz. - The Missouri soccer team opened the Sun Devil Desert Classic with a 1-0 win over the Arizona Wildcats on Friday afternoon in Tempe, Ariz. The win was the sixth in a row for Mizzou, as the team improved to 6-1 on the season, while Wildcats fell to 0-5.

Sophomore Brooke Williams, a Missouri State transfer, scored the game-winning goal in the 75th minute, as she calmly finished a cross from senior Kelsey Blincow that beat the Wildcat keeper.

The Tigers recorded their third straight shutout and fourth of season, and were led by their back line of Jessica Greer, Mallory Stipetich, and Allison Hu.

Redshirt freshman goalkeeper McKenzie Sauerwein played all 90 minutes in goal and recorded a career high seven saves, highlighted by an acrobatic tip over the crossbar on a long range Arizona shot late in the first half.

Missouri had a 13-12 edge in total shots and a 7-3 advantage in corner kicks.

The game was affected by weather as the teams dealt with a 30-minute delay in the middle of the first half due to lighting in the area.

The Tigers take on host Arizona State in their second game of the Sun Devil Classic at 1:30 p.m. PT (3:30 p.m. CT) on Saturday, Sept. 11.
