COLUMBIA, Mo. - The University of Missouri Tigers opened their home schedule with a 4-1 win over the Panthers of Eastern Illinois Sunday at Walton Stadium. Mizzou improves to 1-1 on the season while the Panthers fall to 0-2.

The scoring for the Tigers began early and continued throughout the game. Missouri out shot EIU 28-6 in the game, while on the other end of the field, goalkeepers Caroline Stanley and McKenzie Sauerwein made a save a piece as they each played a half.

Sophomore Alyssa Diggs opened the scoring in the seventh minute. The Tigers continued to press throughout the half, but the score remained 1-0 at halftime.

In the second half, three different Tigers scored. Senior Kelsey Blincow, who scored in the 68th minute and had an assist in the 76th minute on freshman Taylor Grant's first career goal. Sophomore Danielle Nottingham scored the other Tiger goal in the 52nd minute.

The Panthers got on the board in the 82nd minute after a slight miscommunication by the Missouri defense.

The game was the first of a four-game home stand. Next up on the schedule is Ohio State on Friday, Aug. 26 at 6:30 p.m. on Military appreciation night.
