Gymnastics Hosts Black and Gold Meet Saturday

COLUMBIA, Mo. - Fans of the No. 18 Missouri gymnastics team will get their first look at the 2007 squad on Saturday, Dec. 9 at the annual Black and Gold Meet at 7:00 p.m. in the Hearnes Center. The Tigers will be divided into two teams, Black and Gold, with the teams alternating routines on the same event. Admission to the meet is free. Live video and scoring will be available on www.mutigers.com during the meet.
Competing for the Black team are seniors Whitney Crater and Alicia Gilmore, juniors Julie Abaray, Nikki Bowman, Ashley Khederian and Lisa Puccio and freshman Meghann Raub. Gold team members include senior Amanda Pezzullo, junior Katie Kluga, sophomores Alicia Hatcher and Adrianne Perry and freshmen Danielle Guider, Becky Scholle and Liz Straatmann.
Missouri, which looks to improve upon last season's final ranking of 14 and its third place finish at the NCAA Southeast Regional, will face six squads ranked in the preseason top 25 this season.
The Tigers officially open the 2007 season at the Cancun Classic on Friday, Jan. 5 at 7:00 p.m. CT in Cancun, Mexico. In the meet, Missouri will compete against No. 13 Iowa State, No. 20 Auburn and BYU.
