Fall Fun For The Gymnastics Team

Nov. 9, 2005

COLUMBIA, Mo. -As the gymnastics team continues to train for their upcoming season, they know the value of a little fun. Last weekend, the team gathered for a pumpkin carving party. The festivities were complete with carving kits and caramel apples. In true Tiger Spirit, many of the gymnasts carved MIZZOU pumpkins.

Coach Paul Scardina and his wife Traci hosted the party and thought the night provided a much needed break.

"We had such a wonderful time carving and comparing pumpkins and taking in the Halloween spirit," said Scardina. "This gave the team an outlet from the everyday pressures of school, work and gym. Maybe next year we will add costumes."

The team activities also help to bring the team together outside of the gym.

"It's really fun to have the time together away from the gym and to see everyone's individual creativity," said senior Bunny Schwartzman. "We are in go-mode in the gym and this allows us to lighten up a bit and relax with each other."

The Mizzou Gymnastics team will get underway on on Dec. 10 at 7:00 p.m. at the Hearnes Center with the annual Black and Gold intra-squad scrimmage.
