Sophomore Lauren Swankoski
Oct. 25, 2010
Hey Tiger fans!
Its been another hard week in the gym. This past week was high conditioning and low gymnastics. We started of the week with a sports psychology meeting. In the meeting we learned how to control our arousal states before and after each event, which we put right into practice that day!
On Thursday we had our first beam intersquad. It consisted of Alex Skinner (freshman), Tori Howard (sophomore), Brittany Bendoff (sophomore), Sandra Ostad (sophomore), Alex Gold (senior), and myself, Lauren Swankoski (sophomore). It was interesting to see how even that pressure was enough to get the feeling of competition already. Alex Skinner showed us all that she wants it and did an amazing job, way to go Freshman!
Last week was our last week of doing Insanity workouts. This week we will be doing new conditioning and changing it up a little bit, which will be fun. The team is moving along, we are all getting our skills and combinations and looking forward to the season. We are training hard and trying to focus on hitting handstands, and really "dialing" into our skills and routines.
If you havent heard this weekend was homecoming weekend. College game day came to Missouri since we were playing Oklahoma and we were both undefeated. People were on the quad starting at three-thirty in the morning! The Mizzou gymnastics team started off game day in the parade on Saturday at noon. After the parade we went downtown and ate and then it was game time! The gates opened at five-thirty, and it was a rush to find seats. Right off the bat Mizzou scored a touchdown and set the pace. The final score was Mizzou 36 and Oklahoma 27! After the game the most of the fans rushed the field to support our football team. Along with rushing the field the field goal came down and traveled downtown.
Keep looking for updates every week on your Mizzou Tigers!
