Missouri Gymnast Sandra Ostad is currently in Shenzhen, China competing in the Summer Universiade where she is representing her home country of Norway. Below is a Diary entry sent over all the way from China. Stay tuned to MUTigers.com for all of Sandra's official scores from the 2011 Summer Universiade.

Sandra's Diary This competition and event is so much fun! The village, where we live, is huge. There's about 2,000,000 volunteers from China that work at this event. There are 23,000 who work in the village and the rest work around the city and at the different arenas. Volunteers are everywhere and even though many people do not speak English, everyone does their best to help and is super nice all the time.

Anyway, when it comes to the competition... It was so scary. I was super nervous. There were a ton of people watching and cameras were everywhere filming you all the time. It didn't matter if you were walking to the event, warming up, competing, sitting down, crying, laughing, picking your nose, they were all over it! haha :)

Vault went well. I got the second highest score in the competition, but with a lower score on my second vault it wasn't enough to get me to the final, the top 8. I ended up on 9th, only 0.05 points away from 8th!

Bars went okay, I had a few bent arms and short handstands, and I missed my dismount which was annoying.

My floor routine could have been worse and it could have been better. Some of my landings could have been better and it could have been a stronger routine overall.

Right now I'm just happy it's over and that I get a second chance tomorrow to do even better!

: )
