Becca Johnson updates Mizzou Gymnastics' summer!
July 17, 2013
Howdy y'all! (I learned that from all the Texans here!)
It's been a busy and productive week in the world of Mizzou gymnastics. This is our last full week of training, so we are making the final push in the gym, in the weight room and in our classes. And beyond all the serious stuff, hopefully we can get in a couple more poolside bonding days, fun little activities, and team dinners before we head home for a couple weeks!
Workouts with Coach Jackson have really challenged us this summer, both physically and mentally, which has brought us closer as a team as we push our personal limits. It's so awesome to see and feel the progress being made, with all of us getting stronger individually, and in turn, as a whole unit.
We had a sports psychology meeting with Scotta on Monday and talked about some cool activities that we've done in the last two weeks. We each wrote a letter of gratitude to someone who we wanted to graciously thank for impacting our lives. We also performed three intentional acts of kindness, small or big, planned or unplanned, and wrote about them. Coming together and discussing these activities was so rewarding, as we got a glimpse into each other's hearts and personal experience. We may be beasts in the gym, but we can be total softies when we want to be!
Our new staff is really settling in and the team is so excited about the direction in which they are taking us. We are all so proud of the hard work we've put in this summer and are entirely ready to show the world what Mizzou gymnastics is made of.
Thanks for continuing to follow along with our summer fun!
Talk to you soon,
