COLUMBIA, Mo. - Missouri gymnastics has added a fifth member to their 2014 freshmen recruiting class in Tia Allbritten, as announced today by head coach Shannon Welker. Allbritten joins Kennedi Harris, Kelli Martin, Shauna Miller, and Becca Schugel as future Tigers expected to join the program this summer.

Residing in Garland, Texas, Allbritten is a three-time National TOPs member from 2005, 2006 and 2007. In 2010, as a Level 10 gymnast, Allbritten placed second on vault, first on beam and fifth in the all-around at the Level 10 Regionals.

At the Regionals event, she qualified to the Junior Olympic Nationals, where she finished 13th in the all-around. Allbritten then traveled to the Level 10 Regionals, where she won the floor title and qualified to the JO Nationals. In 2012, she finished fifth in the all-around and first on vault at the year's state championships competition.

"Tia has all the qualities of a champion; talented, determined and hard-working," said head coach Shannon Welker. "I know she will bring a relentless work ethic to every practice and help Mizzou achieve success. Tia absolutely fits into our `championship culture'."

Allbritten is set to join the current roster of Tigers gymnasts, and her fellow class of 2014 teammates later this summer in Columbia, Mo.

"I feel that the University of Missouri is a great fit for me," said Allbritten. "The campus has a very welcoming atmosphere, and I immediately felt at ease during my visit. I especially liked the extensive selection of degree programs offered, as well as the programs aimed to assist student-athletes."
