Perry Will Rotate with Michigan at the National Championship
April 14, 2008
Columbia, Mo. - For the third straight season, Tiger standout all-around performer Adrianne Perry (Columbia, Mo.) has qualified for the NCAA National Championships in Athens, Ga. on April 24-26 as an all-around performer. Perry finished with a 39.300 at Saturday's NCAA Central Region Championship, the top all-around score from a non-qualifying team. Perry is only the second Tiger to earn three consecutive trips to the NCAA National Championship tying Alisha Robinsons mark.
Perry will rotate with the University of Michigan, as announced by the NCAA early this morning. Michigan currently ranks eighth in the nation and qualified as the second team out of the NCAA West Region on Saturday. Perry and Michigan will open the event on vault and rotate just like a normal home meet, similar to the Tigers rotation at the Regional Championship.
Perry's score of 39.300 at the Central Regional was also the fourth highest individual qualifying score behind only Julie Dwyer of Auburn, Emily Parsons of Nebraska and Brandi Personett of Penn St. Perry, who has had a dominating seven weeks for the Tigers, has already knocked of some of the competitors that she will be competing against at the championship.
In addition to winning the all-around in title in six of the last eight meets, Perry has knocked off some though competition. Perry won the Big 12 all-around title two weeks ago, as she knocked of top-10 all-arounders Kiara Redmond-Sturms of Oklahoma and Emily Parsons of Nebraska. Her victory over Redmond-Sturms marked her second of the season over the No. 3 all-arounder in the nation. Perry also owns wins over six other all-arounders that will appear at the National Championships and has tied another. In head-to-head meetings this season, Perry holds an 12-7-1 record over all-arounders as the Championships in 2008, with five of those losses coming last weekend against LSU and Stanford.
Perry has defeated Lindsey Bruck and Sarah Curtis of Michigan, Desire' Sniatynski of Nebraska twice, Kaylan Clevinger of Ohio State twice, Nicole Cowart of Illinois and Ashley Jackson of Oklahoma to go note some of her noteworthy victories. She has also tied national qualifier Allison Buckley of Illinois as well in 2008. Her record against the some of the best competition in the nation proves Perry's championship pedigree.
Last season, Perry finished 22nd overall with a 39.075 and will look to build upon that performance at this years championship. With her recent production against top competition, look for Perry to make her mark this season.
