COLUMBIA, MO.-- Sophomore Rachel Updike will travel to Norman, Okla. this weekend for the 2013 NCAA Regional Championships. The Norman Regional, hosted by the University of Oklahoma, will be held at the Lloyd Noble Center at 4 p.m. on April 6. Updike is set to compete on vault and beam at the championship, and she will also serve as the alternate competitor on the uneven bars. Senior Tori Howard will travel to the event as she was selected as an alternate competitor on beam and floor in the case that the regional qualifiers cannot compete.

The six teams competing at the Norman Regional are Oklahoma, Stanford, Penn State, Washington, Iowa and Southern Utah. Updike will rotate with SUU, beginning the meet on the balance beam. Individually, Updike is joined by Texas Womens' Courtney Cochefski and Kristin Edwards who will compete on bars and floor, respectively.

Live scoring of the Norman Regional will be available on the Oklahoma Athletics website, and a live video feed will be provided by ncaa.com. Fox Sports Southwest+ will also televise the championship live. Tickets for the event are available through the Oklahoma Ticket office and can be purchased for $12 for adults, $8 for children and $5 for college student and groups. For more information call the OU ticket office at (405) 325-2424.

Updike's NCAA Regional appearance marks the 14th consecutive season that head coach Rob Drass has seen at least one gymnast advance to the NCAA Regional Competition. As a team the Tigers have made 12 NCAA Regional appearances under Drass' direction, and he has seen four Tigers advance to the championship as individual competitors. Missouri has made a total of 26 regional appearances since the start of the program in the 1979-80 season. Last year, Missouri traveled to Fayetteville, Ark. for the NCAA Regional Championship as a team, and, as a freshman, Updike advanced to NCAA Nationals as an all-arounder.

The top two finishing teams and top two all-around competitors at the Regional Championship will advance to the 2013 NCAA National Championship in Los Angeles, Calif. In addition, the event winners at each regional site advance to the national championships (only in that specific event) if they are not part of a qualifying team or the all-around qualifiers.

The NCAA National Championship will take place on April 19-21 at the historic Pauley Pavilion on the UCLA campus. Semifinal team and all-around competition will be conducted in two sessions Friday, April 19. The top-three teams from each semifinal will advance to the Super Six competition Saturday, April 20. The top four individuals from each semifinal in each event (including ties) from Friday's competition will compete in the individual-event championships Sunday, April 21.
