COLUMBIA, Mo. - Yesterday afternoon, the NCAA announced the field of competition for the 2014 NCAA Gymnastics Regional Championships. Missouri will send three individuals to the NCAA Fayetteville Regional on Saturday, Apr. 5 at Barnhill Arena. Competition at Fayetteville, Ark. is scheduled for a 4:00 p.m. start.

Junior Rebecca Johnson, freshman Angie Kern and junior Rachel Updike will represent Missouri as event specialists. Updike received the nod on vault, as she has shined on the event all year long. Johnson and Kern will both serve as individual event alternates on the uneven bars and floor exercise respectively.

Updike's 2014 season saw 19 overall event titles, and an array of new personal bests. The Olathe, Kan. native's most dominant event took place on vault, as her 9.905 RQS score ranks T-23rd in the nation and T-5th in the South Central Region. Updike took home six consecutive vault titles in a stretch from Jan. 24 to Feb. 23. The junior also tallied scores of 9.900 or higher on vault in 6-of-9 meets this year.

Johnson has enjoyed a sensational comeback season, after missing all of last year due to injury. While Johnson has only competed on bars during the 2014 season, the junior has made the most of it after compiling an impressive 9.860 RQS score on the event. The mark ranks her T-59th in the country and 12th within the South Central Region. Consistency has been Johnson's calling card on the event, as she recorded scores of 9.800 or higher in 9-of-12 competitions.

Kern turned in a solid freshman campaign for the Tigers this year, after being a consistent force within the team's vault and floor lineups. The Columbia, Mo. native's strongest event came on floor, as she compiled a solid 9.795 RQS score for the season. Kern's banner night of 2014 occurred on Feb. 21 against George Washington, as her 9.875 on floor set a new career-high and also won her the event title.
