March 16, 2007

Last weekend's meet was a bit more special for me (and Amanda and Whit). It was the 2007 senior meet and, as usual, it was an emotional one, especially for me. I can't speak for the rest of the seniors but I know all day Friday, I had a hard time concentrating on much else besides the fact that I was about to compete in my last regular season meet in the Hearnes Center arena. I have to mention "regular season" because we actually compete one more time at Hearnes this season. We're hosting Big 12s...SEE YOU THERE!

Once at the arena, I had to put those thoughts in the back of my mind and focus on competing. We ended up having a great meet on Friday night. Every event went pretty smoothly, even without Ash, who was giving a sore knee a rest to be healthy and feeling good for the last two away meets. We'd love to get a couple of high team scores to up our RQS!

Nicole's exhibition on vault was most definitely a meet highlight. She did an awesome tsuk layout. YAY NICOLE! For those of you who are unaware, she's working a stellar tsuk full in the gym.

The rest of the meet went well from there. It was a good, solid meet. Our final score ended up being a 195.425 to defeat the University of Iowa Hawkeyes. We have all the confidence in the world that we can and will build on what we've already done this year and get better and better each weekend.

I must make special mention of the excellent team and coaches that made this meet especially memorable for the seniors. They put together great posters and a post-competition presentation fully equipped with an amazing video created by the lovely Sarah Goebbert. I was great! Thanks everyone!

See you at Big 12s on March 31st at 6 p.m. in the Hearnes arena!

Get `em Tigers!!!
