Meghann Raub's Diary Entry - Feb. 25th

Feb. 25, 2008

This past week of practice was held with much anticipation for Friday nights competition against Oklahoma. Being ranked ranked 6th, and us close behind at 13th, our team knew that it was going to come down to tenths at the end of the night. Everybody did a great job at practice all week, and we all were totally excited to get out, performed, and show those Sooners what a Missouri Tiger is.

As a team, we decided we wantEd to make posters that said our names on it and have a parent or friend hold it up in the stands. We had posters with, " Get it Meg", " Yahh Shi", "A PLUS", and many other fun sayings. We of course mixed glitter and markers in the mix of poster making, and by the end of the night we had 15 great posters that were scattered all throughout the stands during the meet.

Friday came, and for me I felt like it was Christmas Day. With setbacks and injuries my whole freshman year and beginning of this year, I have been unable to compete here at Mizzou. Within the last two months, I have become injury free and have really stepped up in the gym. This Friday I was able to compete vault, and I can't even begin to describe how excited I was to compete.

I have to admit, I personally did not have the greatest performance, but the team overall did very well. Everybody competed with confidence, and we all had a great time cheering and getting the crowd involved as much as possible. With the close loss, we know now that we are right there in the mix in the Big 12. The little things are what we have to work on. Pointed toes, handstands, and landings are the little things I am talking about. Other than that this team can hang with anybody out there. With Cat Classic this coming weekend, the girls and I both have a lot to accomplish in the gym this week, but I have no doubt in my mind that we will bring home a win. GO TIGERS!!!
