Julie Abaray's Diary Entry - Feb. 24th

Feb. 24, 2008

I was really hoping that by the time I had to write this I would be able to say that my knees felt great and I was competing again. Well, unfortunately the meniscus I had repaired in my right knee last summer might be torn for the third time, but on a positive note it is feeling better than it did three weeks ago. So don't count me out for the rest of the season, I'm not ready to give up on my senior year just yet.

The team is holding up pretty well without me though fº Last night we hosted the Oklahoma Sooners and boy did we give them a run for their money! We received our second-highest team score of the year with a 195.75, and were only three stuck landings away from a victory! The girls really seem to be getting comfortable with the line-ups, and everyone is continuing to build off the energy from the girl before them.

We saw a HUGE stuck vault from Sarah last night, Hatcher's best bar routine probably of all time, nailed beam routine after nailed beam routine, and aggressive crowd-pleasing floor routines after a lead-off fall. Can't really ask for much more than that!

This week should be a fun one in the gym as we prepare for the 28th annual Cat Classic! Be sure to be at the Hearnes Center on Friday, February 29 (the day after my birthday fº ) by 6:30 PM as we host the Michigan Wolverines, Ohio State Buckeyes, and Cal-Berkeley Golden Bears.
