Missouri Gymnastics will host LSU on Friday at 6:30 p.m. in the Hearnes Center. The first 500 fans to arrive at the meet will receive a free SEC Inaugural season t-shirt as well.
Last Time Out
The Mizzou Gymnastics and Wrestling teams hosted 6,486 fans at the sixth annual Beauty and the Beast event on Friday. The number is good for the largest Beauty and the Beast crowd in Mizzou history. The number also ranks tenth all-time in Mizzou Gymnastics history. The Mizzou Tigers fell to the 17th-ranked Auburn Tigers at the event, 196.725-194.575, however several Mizzou gymnasts recorded new personal bests at the meet. Senior Tori Howard placed first on the balance beam with a career and season high score of 9.900. Updike also hit her career-high on the event with a 9.875, good for a second place finish.
Looking at LSU
The LSU Tigers sit at No. 8 in the nation with an average team score of 196.290. The Tigers are second in the nation on the vault, after putting up a season high 49.500 score on the event. LSU also comes in at No. 4 in the country on floor, averaging a 49.290 team score. LSU's Rheagan Courville is the No. 18 all-arounder in the nation currently, and Kaleigh Dickson joins her in the top 25 with a 39.213 season average. LSU started out its season with two wins, opening the season against No. 22 NC State and following that with a win over No. 3 Florida. The LSU Tigers fell to Alabama in January, but then came back with a second place finish at Metroplex and a victory over No. 16 Kentucky.
History vs. LSU
Missouri and LSU have met 30 times in the history of the program, and the Mizzou Tigers have a 5-14 record against LSU in the regular season. The two teams last met at a quad meet in 2011. LSU posted a 195.550 to Mizzou's 193.400.
Sophomore All-American Rachel Updike currently checks in at 15th in the nation on the vault with a 9.888 average score.
Missouri's win over TWU at the Air Force Quad Meet marks Missouri Gymnastics' 360th win in the regular season.
Two more meets this season will be televised regionally and nationally, next up will be the Tigers' meet at Kentucky, which will air on ESPU on Feb. 21 at 6:30 p.m., and Mizzou's March 1 meet against Arkansas will appear on Fox Sports Net on March 9 at 11 p.m.
Friday's Beauty and the Beast brought in the 10th largest crowd in Missouri history, and the largest crowd for a Beauty and the Beast event ever. The Tigers hosted 6,486 fans for the event.
Several Tigers set or matched career high marks against Auburn including senior Tori Howard, Rachel Updike, Cat Aliceaacosta and Mackenzie McGill.
