Hey Tiger Fans!

We are off to a running start this season with the completion of our third meet this past weekend. We drew a huge crowd of 3,459 fans, the largest in Pink Out history. It was awesome to compete with the support of so many people! Also, numerous cancer survivors were invited to watch the meet from the arena floor. After the meet, we were able to sign autographs for about an hour for all of our fans, old and young! Its always nice to see the little ones who are so inspired and motivated by our performances.

As far as performances, we had a few standout personal bests, including Mary's 39.075 AA Score, Sarah's 9.925 Vault Score, and Hatcher's 9.775 Floor Score. We started off the evening with vault and unfortunately had to count a fall, which is uncharacteristic of our previously high scoring vault team. Everyone else in the lineup stepped up and vaulted really well though. When moving on to Uneven Bars, I felt that we really focused on that event and not what had just happened on Vault. We hit six of six routines, but did not attack handstands and dismounts like we know how to do. On Beam we had some mistakes that lowered start values, and thus led to lower scores than normal. Despite some mistakes, both Hatcher and A had strong performances on Beam. The Floor team definitely performed for the crowd. They did their job and had fun doing it!

It is early in the season, and we have a lot to learn from each and every mistake and success. We will continue to build as the season progresses. We are in for the long haul and still have our eyes set on the big goals! This week in the gym, we are working hard to prevent some of the mistakes we made and also focus on the fine details in order to boost our scores. This weekend we are making the trip to Ohio to compete in a quad meet against Ohio State, Illinois and Michigan State, and we are coming out fighting! So get ready! ;)

Thanks for reading and your continual support of Mizzou Gymnastics! ~Liz~
