Missouri Meet Notes
Lincoln, Neb. - Mizzou Gymnastics will take on No. 4-ranked Nebraska this Saturday at the Devaney Center in Lincoln, Neb. The meet is set to begin at 6 p.m. Fans can follow along on the Mizzou Gymnastics Twitter page (@TigerGymnastics) or follow live scoring on Nebraska's website.

Then ranked at No. 22 in the nation, Mizzou upset then No. 16 Denver on Friday (Jan. 20). The Tigers pulled out a 194.725-194.625 victory over the Pioneers to improve to 3-0 on the season. The Tigers won all four event titles at the meet, with freshman Rachel Updike taking the vault, beam and floor titles. Allie Heizelman won the bars title, and Denver's Melodie Pulgarin Linero took first in the all-around. Updike has won three event titles in two meets this season, against Southern Utah she took home the vault title.
Missouri is 4-43 against the Huskers in regular season competition and 5-36 in the post season. The two teams last met in 2011 at the Big 12 Championship, the Huskers placed first with a team total of 196.775. Missouri and Nebraska first faced off in 1980 in Lincoln, Neb. The Huskers pulled out a 133.650-129.400 victory over the Tigers. Missouri's last victory over Nebraska came in 1995, the Tigers topped the Huskers 187.500-188.150.
The Huskers are 2-0 this season with victories coming over Denver and Iowa State. The team has a season high score of 197.375, which it earned in its first appearance of the season. Nebraska is ranked No. 4 in the nation, and the team has five all-around competitors. Two Huskers were honored this week by the Big Ten Conference as Gymnast of the Week (Lora Evenstad) and Freshman of the Week (Jessie DeZiel). DeZiel was also named Big Ten Freshman of the Week and Gymnast of the Week on Jan. 16 for her performance in the Huskers' season opener against Denver.
The Tigers will return to Columbia on Feb. 3 to host North Carolina State at 6:30 p.m. in the Hearnes Center before heading out to Chicago on Feb. 10. The Tigers will be one of four teams competing at the IGI Chicago Style Invite at Navy Pier. Missouri hosts back-to-back home meets on Feb. 17 and 24th, welcoming No. 5 Oklahoma and Bowling Green.
Missouri is now 2-0 against ranked opponents as the Tigers knocked off No. 24 Iowa State on Jan. 8 and No. 16 Denver on Jan. 20.
Rachel Updike has been named Big 12 Newcomer of the Week for three consecutive weeks, marking the first time that Missouri has earned this award in consecutive weeks, and the first time any gymnast has earned the award three weeks in a row.
Freshman Rachel Updike has been named to CollegeSports360's Primetime Performers Honor Roll twice this season as well.
With six newcomers on this year's squad, the Tigers look to bring a fresh approach to Mizzou Gymnastics. New Assistant Coach, Jennifer Green, is also a reason to expect big things from the Tigers in 2012.
