COLUMBIA, Mo. - The Big 12 Conference has named senior All-American Sarah Shire (Columbia, Mo.) the Big 12 Gymnast of the Week. This is the eighth time Shire has earned the weekly conference award in her collegiate career.

Shire led Missouri (4-0) to a 195.625 win over then No. 14 Kentucky, No. 16 LSU and Arizona State at the Lady Luck Invitational in Las Vegas. She tied for the bars (9.950) and beam (9.900) titles while finishing second in the all-around (39.400). Shire's 9.950 on bars set a new career high and tied the Missouri record for the highest all-time score on the event.

Shire, the reigning Big 12 Gymnast of the year, is currently tied for second nationally on beam.

This is the second time in as many weeks that a Missouri gymnast has been named Big 12 Gymnast of the Week. Sophomore Mary Burke (Inverness, Ill.) earned the award for the first time in her career after the first week of competition.

The No. 13 Tigers will be in action once again this Friday at 6:30 p.m. in the Hearnes Center for the sixth annual Pink Out meet. Big 12 rival No. 17 Iowa State will be the competition while $1 of every admission ticket will go to the Ellis Fischel Cancer Center for breast cancer research.
