Your 2013 Tiger Squad
The 2013 Mizzou Gymnastics team opened the season with a Black & Gold exhibition contest at Lindenwood University on Dec. 9, 2012. The meet was the first-ever competition for the Lindenwood Lions, who are just beginning their first year of gymnastics. The Tigers had a consistent performance, and had meet counted as an actual competition, the team would have scored a 194.550.
A look at Alabama
The two-time defending NCAA Champion Alabama gymnastics team will make its first-ever trip to Columbia. Coaches Sarah and David Patterson are in their 35th season leading the Tide and have won six NCAA Championships including the last two in a row.
Alabama vs. Missouri History
The Tigers and the Crimson Tide have met 25 times in program history. The Tigers have an 0-14 record in regular season competition and 0-11 in the post-season. The last meeting between the two teams was in 2012 when Missouri traveled to Tuscaloosa to compete in a meet benefitting tornado relief. Missouri fell to the Tide, 197.175-195.375.
Sophomore All-American Rachel Updike returns for the Tigers this season as Missouri's fifth All-American gymnast.
Missouri welcomes three freshmen newcomers this season in Blair Elmore, Miranda Eubank and Rachel Henderson.
The Annual GymInfo preseason poll was released on Dec. 4, and Mizzou came in at No. 21 in the nation, five spots ahead of where the team started last season. Mizzou will face nine ranked opponents this season including No. 1 Alabama, No. 3 Florida, No. 8 LSU, No. 13 Auburn, No. 18 Illinois, No. 19 Arizona and No. 25 Kentucky.
Three meets this season will be televised regionally and nationally, beginning with Mizzou's season opener against Alabama. The meet will be tape-delayed and shown on Comcast/Charter Sports Southeast. The Tigers' meet at Kentucky will air on ESPU on Feb. 21 at 6:30 p.m., and Mizzou's March 1 meet against Arkansas will appear on Fox Sports Net on March 9 at 11 p.m.
