Get excited Tiger fans! The Mizzou Gymnastics Team begins its season this weekend with a meet against the Iowa State Cyclones in Ames, Iowa.

Girls are really pushing lineups and forcing the team to bring their best every day. We have great lineups on all events and are even having to make difficult decisions about who will be competing. We are holding intrasquads a couple times a week to allow us to be put in high-pressure situations that mimic meets.

Even though classes haven't started yet, we've been practicing in Columbia since Dec. 27. I think everyone enjoyed the holidays and loved to spend time with friends and family. After an intense first semester, a little break was just the thing to revitalize the spark in the gym.

Our training this year is really up a notch from previous years. It's no longer good enough to just make a routine; it has to be quality. We are really making the details a habit. Bar routines are made with perfect handstands and beam routines are made with no wobbles. However, sometimes it's difficult to perform the specific details every turn. On bars, Rob and Fig remind us that it's okay to go aggressive on a handstand, even if it's not perfect every time, the work we do now will show at the end of the season.

It's great to see such a close group of girls working so hard to make history for Mizzou Gymnastics. We want to be at Nationals. We will be. We have the talent and desire. Go Tigers!

Oh, and we all absolutely can not wait for the bus trip to Ames. We come back with the funniest stories and memories that will last a lifetime. YAY MIZZOU!!!
