Last Time Out
Mizzou prepared for the 2012 season with the Black & Gold Intrasquad on Dec. 9, 2011. The Gold squad took the title with a score of 164.475 to the Black squad's 163.150. Mary Burke took the all-around title, scoring 39.300. Katelyn Trevino and Allie Heizelman also competed all-around, earning scores of 38.750 and 38.650. If the scores from the Black & Gold had been calculated as a regular season meet, Mizzou would have put up a score of 195.750. The Tigers would have earned a 49.150 on beam, which ties last year's season high score.
Mizzou traveled to Ames, Iowa, to face the Cylcones last season. The meet was a close race throughout, but the Tigers fell to the Cyclones 195.250-194.550. Then in her junior season, Allie Heizelman recorded a career-high 9.875 on her bar routine. The Tigers and the Cylcones met again in Columbia at the Big 12 Championship. Iowa State defeated the Tigers 195.150-194.975. The Tigers and the Cyclones are 26-26 in the regular season series, Mizzou leads 21-13 in post season competition.
A Familiar Face
Former Tiger Danielle Guider will be in Cardinal and Gold for this event. Guider now serves as a volunteer coach for Iowa State. While at Missouri, Guider held a consistent presence in the lineups. She was named to the All-Big 12 Championship Team in the all-around during her senior season.
The Tigers open the 2012 season at home against conference foe Iowa State. The meet is set for 2 p.m. in the Hearnes Center. Fans can tune in to the Mizzou Network to watch the meet live, or follow the live scoring on MUTigers.com. Live updates will also be provided on our Twitter page, @TigerGymnastics.
Fans can receive free admission to the meet on Sunday by bringing in two canned food items. The items will benefit the Central Missouri Food Bank.
With six newcomers on this year's squad, the Tigers look to bring a fresh approach to Mizzou Gymnastics. New Assistant Coach, Jennifer Green, is also a reason to expect big things from the Tigers in 2012.
