COLUMBIA, Mo. - The No. 18 Missouri gymnastics team kicked off the 2007 season annual Black and Gold Meet at the Hearnes Center on Saturday night, where the Black team bested the Gold team 192.050 to 191. Junior Ashley Khederian won the all-around title with a 39.000 while classmate Julie Abaray finished second with a 38.900 and sophomore Adrianne Perry scored a 38.800 to come in third.

Five returning Tigers set or tied career highs on events, highlighted by junior Nikki Bowman breaking her previous marks on vault, beam and floor and Abaray setting a new best on bars and tying her career high on floor.

Perry recorded a 9.850 on vault to finish first on the event and seniors Whitney Crater and Amanda Pezzullo both posted a 9.800 for second place. Bowman and Khederian tied for fourth on the event with 9.750s.

On bars, Abaray set a new career high and Khederian tied her personal best as each Tiger finished with a 9.800 to take first place. Junior Lisa Puccio also set a new career mark as she came in third with a 9.750 and freshman Becky Scholle scored a 9.700 to finish in fourth place.

Abaray and Perry picked up their second event titles of the night when they each scored a 9.800 on beam. Bowman, Pezzullo and sophomore Katie Kluga finished in a three-way tie for third as each scored a 9.750.

Pezzullo notched the highest score of the night when she posted a 9.900 on floor to take first and set a new personal best on the event. Perry picked up a 9.850 to take second and Abaray and Bowman shared third with 9.800s, which tied and set career bests for each Tiger, respectively.

Missouri kicks off the 2007 season at the Cancun Classic on Jan. 5 at 7:00 p.m. CT in Cancun, Mexico. The Tigers will face off against No. 13 Iowa State, No. 20 Auburn and BYU in the meet.
