COLUMBIA, Mo. - The No. 18 Missouri gymnastics team finished in third place with a 194.450 at the 2007 Big 12 Championship on Saturday night at Mizzou's Hearnes Center. No. 7 Nebraska won its eighth Big 12 title with a 196.475, No. 10 Oklahoma scored a 195.325 for second and No. 15 Iowa State had a 193.975 to claim fourth place. Sophomore Adrianne Perry earned All-Big 12 honors in the all-around, vault and bars and classmate Alicia Hatcher was a conference honoree on bars.

The third place finish matches Mizzou's best finish since the inception of the Big 12 Conference in 1996. The Tigers also finished third in 2003 and 2004.

Heading into the final rotation in third place just half a tenth out of second, Missouri did not take advantage of its position with a season low 48.000 on floor. Perry led the Tigers as she notched a 9.850 to tie for fifth and senior Amanda Pezzullo had a solid set and posted a 9.800 to tie for eighth.

"I'm very proud of my team, they worked as hard as they could but I know they're better than they showed tonight," Missouri Head Coach Rob Drass said. "I don't know exactly what happened on floor. If you look at our floor scores all year, you never see something like that. We gave away a point there. You want to be happy because you're not in fourth place because you've done a good job but it's hard to be excited about that when you could have had second."

Following the Olympic rotation, the Tigers opened the meet on vault and notched a 48.900. Perry scored a 9.900 to tie Iowa State's Janet Anson for second place on the event and earn her first career All-Big 12 honor. Senior Whitney Crater posted a 9.800 to tie for 10th and Pezzullo came in 15th with a 9.775.

Mizzou moved to bars in the second rotation and scored a 48.850, led by Perry and Hatcher. The duo each recorded 9.850s to tie for fourth place and earn All-Big 12 selections. Juniors Julie Abaray and Ashley Khederian tied for 17th with 9.750s.

The Tigers moved to beam in the third rotation and scored a 48.700 despite a few missteps. Abaray and Perry paced Mizzou with 9.850s apiece to tie for fifth and Pezzullo scored a 9.725 to tie for 11th place.

In the all-around competition, Perry claimed her third All-Big 12 honor of the night as she finished in fourth place with a 39.450.

"It speaks good things about our team that we almost beat a top 10 team tonight but we have to finish growing up," Drass said. "We have to take advantage of the situation and that's what teams that go on to the national championships do. Hopefully we learned something tonight; if we do our job we can do a lot of great things."

On Monday, April 2, the NCAA will announce pairings for the six regionals. The Tigers will either travel to Alabama, Arizona, California-Berkeley, Denver, Michigan or West Virginia for NCAA Regionals to take place on either April 14 to compete with five other teams. The top two finishers will then qualify for the NCAA National Championship in Salt Lake City, Utah, April 26-28.
