Tuscaloosa, Ala.--In front of a crowd of 12,936 gymnastics fans, the Mizzou Tigers and the Alabama Crimson Tide paid tribute to those affected by tornadoes in both Missouri and Alabama at a tornado relief meet. The teams were joined by representatives from both Joplin, Mo. and Tuscaloosa. Tuscaloosa Toyota was also on hand to present a check for $12,400 to ReadBAMARead, an organization founded by Alabama assistant coach Dana Duckworth, to help the three schools that were destroyed last spring rebuild their libraries. The Tigers fell to Crimson Tide 197.175-195.375.

The Tigers started the meet on bars, posting a 48.475 on the event. Allie Heizelman anchored the rotation with a 9.800 score and Burke put up a 9.775. Mackenzie McGill led off the rotation with a 9.675, and Taylor Medrea put up a 9.625. Brittani Price put up a 9.600.

Mizzou picked it up in the second rotation, posting a 48.825 score. On vault, Rachel Updike led the Tigers with a 9.850. Katelyn Trevino scored 9.825, while Burke posted a 9.800. Both Tori Howard and Rebecca Johnson put up a 9.675 scores as well. The Crimson Tide held the lead after the second rotation, 98.675-97.300.

The Tigers picked up the pace on floor, posting a 49.025. After the third rotation, Alabama led 148.000-146.325. Updike put up a 9.900 in the four-spot of the rotation, and Howard recorded a 9.850. Trevino was Burke posted a 9.750, followed by a 9.725 from senior Allie Heizelman. Medrea went in the lead-off position and put up a 9.700.

 

 

The Tigers headed to beam for the final rotation, where the team put up a 49.075. Laura Kappler started the rotation, earning a 9.725 score, followed by Medrea who posted a 9.750. Burke anchored the rotation with a 9.875 and Updike recorded a 9.850. Howard put up a 9.800 in the rotation as well.
